Presentation

Professor Gelareh Momen ,PhD,  PEng.

Dr. Gelareh Momen is an Associate Professor at UQAC and a member of the CENGIVRE ( International Centre for Research on atmospheric icing and electric network engineering) and is in charge of the Laboratory for icephobic coatings and surface engineering (LaRGIS).

Her education in chemical engineering, her professional experience in teaching and academic and industrial research on functional materials and intelligent coatings have allowed her to acquire expertise in these fields, leading her to several industry reports and articles in international journals. She holds a PhD in process enginieering from the University of Paris XIII. Before joining UQAC, she worked as a engineer and researcher in R & D at Bombardier Aerospace on internal linings for aircrafts, and established the first laboratory at the GCC (Global Completion Centre). She was also a member of the international working group B2-44 on “coatings for the protection of transport network equipment in winter conditions”.

PhD position available

We are looking for highly motivated students to fill several Ph.D. positions in polymer, chemical and materials engineering. These candidates must have a solid training in chemical engineering, polymer and materials science, or related fields. Our research interests focus on the development of smart coatings and surface engineering for applications such as ice-phobicity, anticorrosion, self-cleaning, antibacterial, etc. Our laboratory is equipped with a wide range of material deposition and characterisation equipment (PECVD, sputtering, Dip-coating, spin coating, XPS, SEM, AFM, Contact angle, 3D X-ray Microscopy, etc.). Interested candidates should contact me (email: gmomen@uqac.ca) or Prof. Jafari (email: rjafari@uqac.ca ) for more details on the current projects.
